I read the news these days and see…
"And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God…."

Black men shot dead in the street,
"There was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne."

Babies shot dead in the womb,
"God himself will be with them; he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more, for the first things have passed away."

Women objectified,
"For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready."

Tyrants glorified,
"They sing a new song: 'You are worthy… for you were slaughtered and by your blood you ransomed for God saints from every tribe and language and people and nation.'"

People slaughtered in mass shootings,
"They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks."

Immigrants threatened with mass deportation;
"The nations will walk by the city's light.... Its gates will never be shut… and the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations."

Here I am, Lord.
I can't wait to go home.
